In 1869, famed astronomer Maria Mitchell led a party of Vassar Female College students from New York to Iowa for what would become the most exciting three minutes of their lives. As Muncie anticipates our own once-in-a-lifetime celestial event, we invite you to go back in time and meet the indomitable Maria, as she and her students make history as the first all-female team to scientifically observe a total solar eclipse. Free and open to the public.
