Under the direction of Andrew Crow and Kerry Glann, the Ball State Choirs present a series of concerts each year featuring a wide range of music from around the world and across the centuries.
The Ball State Chamber Choir is the university’s most prestigious concert choir typically comprising of upper-level music majors and graduate students. The Chamber Choir has performed throughout the country and around the world, focused on the established canon of Western choral repertoire and world-premiere performances of new music.
The Ball State Concert Choir, a selective ensemble, performs accompanied and a cappella music representing a broad spectrum of history and regions. The Concert Choir frequently performs with orchestra or other instrumental ensembles and occasionally tours the region as ambassadors of Ball State University.
The Chamber Choir will present a set of seven ancient texts from the biblical psalms in musical settings from diverse time periods, languages, and geographies. A wide range of human emotion surges through these texts, which has inspired these composers across more than three centuries to show forth their joy, sorrow, anger, hope, and awe.
In a season marked by the continuing pandemic and the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Concert Choir will present selections representing a program of memorial and renewal.
Full program to include music by Henry Purcell, Anton Bruckner, Nathan Carter, Abbie Betinis, John Rutter, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Andrew Rindfleisch, Orlando Gibbons, Johannes Brahms, Frank Ticheli, Gerald Finzi, Elaine Hagenberg, Vienna Teng, Morten Lauridsen, Samuel Barber, and Ysaÿe Barnwell.
