  • Schedule a move-in appointment.
  • View details regarding hall placement.
  • View roommate assignment with their contact information.

If you have not received an email by Sunday, July 31 please contact our office at 765-285-8000.

Our office tries our best to place all incoming students in their respective communities, but there are occasions when we are not able to do so. Some reasons include housing deposit date, space availability, and roommate preference.

If you have questions, please contact our office at 765-285-8000.

The majority of our fantastic residence halls offer central air conditioning however, Woodworth and Howick/Williams hall in Noyer are the only housing locations on campus without A/C.

We understand that some students with medical needs may require air conditioning in buildings without central air. For this reason, students with written authorization from the Office of Housing and Residence Life may rent air conditioners for their residence hall rooms.

Download the student request and medical verification forms (requires Adobe Acrobat). Feel free to contact our office for copies of both forms and for additional information.

Once the forms are received, a review of the information will be made, and our office will respond as soon as possible. An air conditioning contract will be mailed to you upon approval. Completed forms must be postmarked no later than July 1 in order to ensure installation in your room before move-in. Should your form arrive after July 1, it may take up to two weeks after move-in before installation may occur.

How to Request an Air Conditioner

  1. Complete a Student Request for Air Conditioner form.

  2. Take a Medical Verification Form to your appropriate licensed health care professional to complete. (Sorry, we're unable to accept a prescription from the physician, and a physician must complete the form in its entirety.)

  3. Mail or Fax the completed Student Request Form and completed Medical Verification Form from a licensed physician to the following address:

    Director
Ball State University Housing and Residence Life
    North Dining Hall
    Muncie, IN 47306
    Fax: 765-285-3743

  4. After your information is received and reviewed, you will be asked to sign a contract from our office.

As part of the accommodation process, you may be interviewed. Remember, a request for an accommodation will not be considered without current medical verification of the medical condition and necessity of requested accommodations.

*Please do not bring a roll-away or freestanding air conditioning unit for your room as these will NOT be allowed. Plan to request an air conditioner from our office and follow the established program in place.

The company will also remove the micro-fridge at the end of the academic year. For product information and ordering, please visit www.MyCollegeFridge.com.

Please be assured that BedLoft.com is aware of Ball State's housing placement process.

Fridge/microwave combo units are scheduled to be delivered to student's residence hall rooms prior to move-in.

Lofting and Stacking Beds

Students living in the residence halls have furniture in the room that is loftable or stackable. No purchase or renting from an external source is permitted nor necessary. To loft or stack furniture, a rubber mallet is recommended to help with the process. Students can borrow this tool from the front desk of their residence hall.

When lofting or stacking furniture in a student room, one window must remain completely free and clear of obstruction. Fire safety codes require at least three feet of space between the window and any items that could obstruct the window for use as an emergency entrance/exit.

Student rooms are checked for loft policy violations periodically. Hall directors reserve the right to require students to remove a loft that does not meet safety guidelines. Loft/bed units must be taken apart and removed from the hall when instructed to do so by hall staff. Loft disassembly must take place before the start of quiet hours at the end of each semester. Room occupants are responsible for any and all damages caused by the assembly or disassembly of such units.

Bed Rails

Students can request a bed rail for their lofted beds upon arrival on-campus. Requests can be made at their residence hall's front desk. Please note that there is limited availability.

Lofting your bed can be a great utilization of the space in your room! Learn how to adjust stackable furniture by watching the video below that's suitable to your residence hall.
