Mearns hosted a conversation about what thriving towns and cities have in common, who’s trying new ideas that work, and how Hoosiers are working through differences to solve local problems.

President's Installation and Community Events

The September 2017 installation of Geoffrey S. Mearns as our 17th president was a new beginning that honors both our accomplishments to date and our vision for the future, which we are all committed to.

He has pledged to partner with Muncie because we are better together. The president has called enhancing and expanding our support for Muncie a moral obligation.

Three days of activities, both on campus and in the community, surrounded the installation and supported our partnership with the community.

To strengthen the partnership between Ball State and the Muncie community, the Mearns/Proud Family Scholarship was unveiled during the president's installation Sept. 8.

'Committed to the Community'

Ball State students and employees participated in United Way's Day of Action projects on Sept.7 as part of Geoffrey S. Mearns' installation as Ball State University's 17th president.

How can Ball State University and Muncie be better?

In partnership with The Star Press, Ball State hosted three community forums to discuss how the university and community can partner together, in a cooperative and collaborative way, to grow and thrive. The format was a panel discussion with Ball State President Geoffrey S. Mearns, community leaders, and Ball State faculty and staff.

Ball State University's new president Geoffrey S. Mearns spent Wednesday, Sept. 13 listening to Muncie's concerns about local schools and neighborhoods and the university's role in addressing them.
