Program Requirements
This master’s program is research-intensive and focuses on a thesis, which includes a one-credit research colloquium each Fall and Spring semester of full-time study. You’ll determine your thesis topic by the end of your second semester. In order to graduate you will need to publicly defend your thesis to a committee and receive its approval.

- core requirements (research methodology courses) – 6 credits
- courses directed by the thesis committee – 12 credits
- thesis requirements – 6 credits
- approved graduate electives in geology or natural resources and environmental management – 6 credits
