"John Edgar Park: Minister, College President, and Christmastime Robin Hood Children's Author"
John Edgar Park was Minister of the Second Church in West Newton, MA, for nineteen years, and then President of Wheaton College in Norton, MA, from 1926-1944. He was also a prolific writer of popular, often inspirational, essays and fiction. This talk will examine Park's philosophy on life in relation to one of the most unique children's books authored in the early 20th century,The Merrie Adventures of Robin Hood and Santa Claus (1922), which brings the two legendary figures together to impart some meaningful lessons to young readers.
