Foundationally, we are all the same, but are we? When the two worlds of younger-than-retirement age and post-retirement collide, the result can be confusing, lonely, self-loathing, and just plain boring. Having a proper place to land, to have a different purpose than before, is a recipe for a happier, healthier, and more fulfilled life. The Muncie Senior Center provides that outlet and much more.
About the Presenter: Julie Meares grew up in Logansport, Indiana. Following high school, she enlisted in the Army and was a German linguist (1985-1989). In 2021, Julie graduated from Indiana University East with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies, turning the tassel just one week after her 55th birthday. She has served as a board member of the Muncie Action Plan Task Force 2 and as the acting current President of the Ludingwood Neighborhood Association. During college, she served as an intern with LifeStream Services, where she addressed the social needs of seniors in our community. Julie also edited a book tailored for dementia patients and their caregivers. Today she serves as the Executive Director of the Muncie Senior Center.
