A Ball State University professor distributed 1,500 gallons of milk to local emergency food organizations.
Joshua Gruver, who teaches courses in environment, geology, and natural resources as an associate professor at Ball State University, started this effort as part of the Muncie Food Hub Partnership. The multi-faceted operation combines a central facility for producers to store and sell crops with mobile food trucks to deliver fresh, local produce.
The milk was excess from Prairie Farms in Anderson (due to COVID-19 distribution issues). So, instead of throwing milk away, the Food Hub, in partnership with Purdue Extension, is taking the milk and giving it away for free.
The Food Hub has other partnerships with area emergency food organizations. Gruver delivered milk in Selma, Parker City, and Muncie.
