The Miller College of Business at Ball State University has announced the launch of the Miller Leadership Academy. This new scholarship and support program will provide select incoming Ball State freshmen an $11,000 renewable scholarship—plus resources and services that focus on supporting underserved students financially, academically, and holistically. The academy will welcome its inaugural class in the Fall of 2022.

Miller Leadership Academy students will be immersed in co-curricular activities that will help them develop into effective leaders who are supported in every aspect of their undergraduate experience. The programming will include a summer bridge program, the Miller College’s Living Learning Community, leadership development, professional development, mentoring, academic and holistic support services, immersive learning projects, and service opportunities.

“Miller College of Business is very excited about the launch of this new program,” said Dr. Stephen Ferris, Bryan Dean of the Miller College of Business. “Miller Leadership Academy will provide these students with an opportunity to learn about effective leadership that they can take back to their communities, and help build a stronger Indiana.”

All incoming freshman business majors who are also Indiana residents—particularly those from underserved and historically marginalized populations—are encouraged to apply for the academy. Miller College of Business continues to strive to enhance its learning environment through increased diversity.

The Miller Leadership Academy will also seek students who demonstrate the qualities exemplified by Wallace T. Miller Jr., after whom the program and the business college is named. These scholars will be some of the most passionate and self-motivated students at Ball State University who will set the example for responsible leadership and a commitment to serving others.
