Francisco de Goya, Spanish (1746–1828), The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (El Sueño de la razón produce monstruos), plate 43 from The Caprices (Los Caprichos) series, 1799 (1905-1907), etching and aquatint, 8th edition, The David and Sarojini Johnson Collection. The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., will display the first public exhibition of an outstanding Midwestern collection amassed over four decades by local printmakers and educators David and Sarojini Johnson. “A Wild Story: The David and Sarojini Johnson Print Collection” will be on view at DOMA from Feb. 23 through May 21, 2023.

Arlin Arlin “Oath” Burns, a senior at Triton Central High School in Fairland, Ind., and one of the top young Rocket League professionals in the country, has signed a full-ride scholarship to compete for Ball State’s varsity Rocket League team beginning in the Fall of 2023.

Ball State University campusAfter a successful inaugural year, the Ball State University Foundation today revealed the recipients of the University’s newest “Top 100 Student Awards.” This annual award recognizes 100 outstanding junior and senior undergraduates who represent the spirit of Beneficence, Ball State’s institutional statue and icon that symbolizes the generosity of the five Ball brothers whose land donation to the State of Indiana allowed the University to flourish.

Peer Tutoring Day, Ball State University, 2023Ball State University on Feb. 3 hosted more than 85 middle and high school students from Delaware County for the second annual Peer Tutoring Day. The event is held each year to celebrate, train, and encourage local students who have volunteered to be peer writing tutors in their schools.

Geoffrey S. Mearns, president of Ball State University, has selected Jeff Mitchell as the Cardinals’ new director of athletics. Mr. Mitchell will join Ball State after serving as deputy director of athletics at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., since 2018.
