The Ball State University Foundation has revealed the University’s Top 10 students from its second annual “Top 100 Student Awards” program. This annual award recognizes 100 outstanding junior and senior undergraduates who represent the spirit of Beneficence, Ball State’s institutional statue and icon that symbolizes the generosity of the five Ball brothers whose land donation to the State of Indiana allowed the University to flourish.

Multi-talented actor and producer David Arquette will be the next featured speaker in the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series at Ball State University. Mr. Arquette is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. on April 10 at Pruis Hall on the Ball State campus.

The New York Times best-selling author Kathryn Aalto—a landscape historian, garden designer, and teacher—will speak at Ball State University on March 20. The presentation, free and open to the public, starts at 5 p.m. in Room 175 of the Art and Journalism Building on the University’s Muncie campus.

The inaugural event of the Ethan Whitehead Guest Lecture in Sustainability series is scheduled for March 20 at Ball State University. The guest lecturer is Dr. Billy Fleming, the Wilks Family Director of the Ian L. McHarg Center in the Weitzman School of Design. Dr. Fleming is a senior fellow with Data for Progress and co-director of the “Climate + Community Project.”

Dr. Dom Caristi, Professor Emeritus of Media at Ball State University, has been named the winner of the 2023 Distinguished Education Service Award (DESA) from the Broadcast Education Association (BEA).

Ball State University will appoint Dr. James Buss as its new Honors College dean, President Geoffrey S. Mearns announced. Dr. Buss will succeed Dr. John Emert, who is retiring from the University on May 31, and will begin his new role June 19.

Forbes has ranked Ball State University as the fourth-best midsized employer—and the only recognized education institution—in the State of Indiana. The popular business magazine recently released its 2023 “America’s Best Midsize Employers” list, a ranking of 500 companies and institutions with 1,000 to 5,000 U.S.-based employees.
