Ball State University’s student media organizations recently were recognized with several prestigious national journalism awards, as announced at the Fall National College Media Convention in Atlanta.

Anaya Marshall, a fourth-year Landscape Architecture major at Ball State University, has been selected for the prestigious LAF (Landscape Architecture Foundation) Ignite scholarship program.

Ball State University’s Teachers College has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon for its project, “Enhancing Competency-Based Approaches to University Pedagogies in Cameroon through Professional Development Workshops.”

Jennifer Proud Mearns, first lady of Ball State University, has been named to the board of directors for Indiana Humanities, a statewide nonprofit organization.

In a groundbreaking project for collegiate journalism, Ball Bearings Magazine, the Ball State Daily News, and the Western Kentucky College Heights Herald, in collaboration with Ball State PBS and Western Kentucky PBS, were named joint winners of the Associated Collegiate Press’ Innovation Pacemaker Award for the cross-platform multimedia project, “Fleeing to Flyover Country.”

Ball State University will open its new full-service Chick-fil-A location at North Dining Jan. 8, 2024—the first day of the Spring 2024 semester. The new location will replace the Chick-fil-A Express located in the Atrium within the Art and Journalism Building. The Atrium location will close Nov. 17.

After a nationwide search, Geoffrey S. Mearns, president of Ball State University, has selected Dr. Anand R. Marri as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
