Groove: Interlocking Cultures Through Movement is an exhilarating dance production directed by Dr. Emmanuel Cudjoe, assistant professor of West African dance, and Jenn Meckley, assistant professor of dance.
“Groove explores the dynamic intersection of West African traditional dance and hip-hop, bringing together two powerful forms rooted in rich cultural legacies,” Dr. Cudjoe said. “This innovative performance showcases the shared rhythms, energy, and expressive power of both styles, celebrating the connection between the ancient and the contemporary. Audiences will be captivated by the vibrant exchange and unity embodied by the dancers as they blend tradition with urban creativity, demonstrating the universal language of movement.”
