Ball State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World—a powerful, genre-blending theatrical song cycle—Sept. 5-7 and 9-14, at Korsgaard Dance Studio in Ball Gymnasium.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the College of Fine Arts Box Office located at Sursa Performance Hall. Patrons can also purchase tickets online or by phone at 765-285-8749.

Featuring a fusion of pop, gospel, and jazz genres, the show transports the audience from 1492 to modern-day New York while the musical numbers capture pivotal moments of decision-making.

“With a mighty and talented cast, this production explores transformation and the courage it takes to step into the unknown,” said theater Professor Bill Jenkins, director of this production and chair of Ball State’s Department of Theatre and Dance.

Johnna Tavianini, an associate professor of musical theatre at Ball State, will provide musical direction for this production. Anne Beck, assistant professor of musical theatre and tap dance at Ball State, is the show’s choreographer.
