Preventative Legal Counsel
Contract Review: In order to avoid legal difficulties, students are encouraged to consult Student Legal Services (SLS) before entering into important legal transactions such as renting an apartment, buying a used car, and purchasing goods or services on contract. The SLS attorney can review any such contract or document before you sign, explain the meaning of its provisions, and advise you of any areas of concern.
Brochures: Student Legal Services has prepared a number of brochures on important legal issues including landlord/tenant disputes, employee's rights, consumer problems, criminal law, and the responsible use of alcohol. These brochures are available in the SLS office, Pittenger Student Center, room L-17.
Drafting: Student Legal Services may prepare contracts and other legal documents for students. SLS may not prepare any documents to be used in litigation, however.
