Types of Memberships

We offer two types of memberships that grant you different levels of facility access.

  • Full Memberships—You can use all our recreational facilities.
  • Auxiliary Memberships—You can use the recreation facilities that existed before the construction of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. We refer to these as our auxiliary facilities.

 

Students

Are you currently enrolled in at least one on-campus class? If so, your membership is included in your student fees. No need to register—just bring your Ball State ID and come see us!

But how do you access recreation facilities if you take classes online or are in between semesters? It’s simple—just decide on your membership length and register below! Once we receive your registration and confirm your eligibility we will activate your university issued student ID.

Summer Memberships:  Unless you are enrolled in at least one on-campus class and have been assessed the Rec Fee on your Bursar Bill, you will need to register for a Summer Semester Membership.

EMPLOYEE ONLINE PAYROLL DEDUCTION FORM

We welcome all Ball State alumni, including new graduates, to register for a recreation membership. Not only does membership provide access to our award-winning facilities, they are also eligible to register and participate in all recreational programs.

Once you register and we confirm your eligibility, we will activate your university issued ID for access to our facilities. If you have not yet updated your ID card to Alumni status, you will need to obtain a new Alumni Card from the ID Card Office, located in the Library BL001.

University retirees and their spouses receive complimentary access to auxiliary facilities.

To receive your complimentary auxiliary facilities membership, please complete the facility waiver.  When completing the waiver, please select "Retiree".

Students of the Burris Laboratory School and Indiana Academy are eligible for complimentary access to:

  • Ball Gym Fitness Room
  • Ball Gym Track
  • Ball Pool
  • Lewellen Pool
  • Racquetball Courts

When Ball Gym Fitness Room is closed on the weekends, Burris/Indiana Academy students are permitted to use the Student Recreation and Wellness Center Fitness Center only.  No other spaces are accessible on the weekends besides the Student Recreation and Wellness Center Fitness Center. 

Registration is required annually for this access. Please allow up to 48 business hours for our office to process your registration.

Memberships must be renewed each Fiscal Year.

We invite you to consider a full access membership as well! It is assumed that the parents of the Burris/Indiana Academy have completed the registration process on behalf of the Burris/Indiana Academy student registering for full access membership.

Note to Parents and Guardians

Our office would like to make all parents and guardians aware that Burris and Indiana Academy students using our facilities are participating in an adult environment. The vast majority of our users are 18-25 years old. We also want you to be aware that our entrances, lounge spaces, hallways, restrooms, and locker rooms are open to the general public. Access for valid students, employees, and affiliates is managed in the activity spaces (gymnasium, fitness centers, pools, etc.) only.

Spouses and dependents of all of our eligible members are welcome to register for their own individual memberships. We also provide family membership packages for your convenience as well.

Patrons who qualify as dependents or a spouse:

  • Spouse - legally married
  • Children - up to 25 years old, once a dependent is older than 25 years old, they are no longer eligible for a dependent membership

Patrons who do not qualify as a dependent or spouse: 

  • Parents
  • Siblings
  • Grandparents
  • Grandchildren
  • Nieces/Nephews
  • Aunts/Uncles
  • Cousins
  • Non-married significant others - boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, common law, or other
