About The Women of the Ball Family Leadership Legacy Fund
When we talk about the Ball Family, we often talk about the five Ball Brothers and their legacy of philanthropy. The Women of the Ball Family Fund was created to honor the outstanding females of the Ball Family who have always been active visionaries and contributors to our community. Women like the oldest of the Ball siblings, Lucina Ball, who was an educational leader at a time when women were just starting to make major contributions as higher education leaders. And like Virginia B. Ball, the beloved wife of Ed Ball and a community-engaged leader, who had a vision for the continued education and professional development for women who were employed by our University.
There has been a long history of people who have served Ball State University in their roles as administrative and support staff members. They have given much to our students, faculty, and administrators. They have an important and unique role in helping our University bring forth its goals. To honor the legacy of the women of the Ball family and to provide new professional development opportunities for the employees who serve in administrative and support positions, this fund will provide professional development scholarships to eligible administrative support staff members throughout the University.
