Through applied curiosity, invention and teaching, Buckminster Fuller sought to interconnect humanity with the innate productive capacity of what he referred to as “Spaceship Earth”. He sought to make decisions for ecological rather than political reasons; and to the world work for all of humanity, with maximum resource efficiency, and without ecological degradation.
Each year, starting in 2008, the Buckminster Fuller Institute has extended the Buckminster Fuller Challenge. The challenge is a global competition that seeks to bring forth strategies that have significant potential to solve the most pressing problems facing humanity. A distinguished jury reviews the submissions and awards a $100,000 prize to support the development and application of the selected strategy.
