Core Requirements

This foundations course introduces computation, design methods, tools for digital fabrication, and project delivery methods for design through production. It initiates a core understanding of geometry, fabrication strategies, and data extraction/translation through a series of hands-on, iterative modeling and fabrication projects.

Prerequisite: graduate status

Foundations course introducing students to contemporary methodologies for computational form generation, manufacturing processes and visualization through the development and realization of small projects. Informing the framework of each project are the theories and philosophies currently driving disciplinary conversations.

Six Hours from the Following Electives

This seminar focuses on a discussion of critical consideration of design computation, fabrication technology application issues, and discussing theoretical digital technology issues. You will work collaboratively with other students to develop critical and prototypical projects.

Prerequisites: graduate status, ARCH 581

This provides a critical overview of current digital fabrication methods and tools for the design and production of artifacts of various scales and types.

Prerequisite: graduate status, ARCH 581

Independent study in architectural topics. Prerequisite: approval of an independent study proposal by the department chairperson. A total of 12 credits may be earned, but no more than 6 in any one semester or term
