Ball State University’s Department of Urban Planning is partnering with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to bring the UrbanPlan program to Delaware and other surrounding counties in Indiana. This one-day workshop will allow high school students to experience a realistic exercise in understanding the fundamental forces that affect development in our communities. Students experience challenging issues, private and public sector roles, complex trade-offs, and fundamental economics in play when proposing realistic land use solutions to vexing growth challenges.
- Cost: Free
- Location: Muncie, Ft. Wayne, or Indianapolis
- Required access to internet for pre-workshop meeting
- Registration and more information: firstname.lastname@example.org
This program is for high school students (9th-12th grade) interested in learning more about the built environment and how to manage community growth and change. This summer, the Department of Urban Planning will host three workshops in three cities. Students should sign up for and attend ONE workshop date only.

Before each workshop, students will meet their UrbanPlan Team Members in a Wednesday night Zoom Meeting. Zoom Meetings will be held the Wednesday before the Workshop. Please make sure you are available for the Wednesday workshop that matches your Saturday session.
- 7-8:30 p.m. July 13 for both the Indianapolis and Muncie workshops
Each student will also receive a copy of the UrbanPlan Student Handbook and access to documents to prepare and finish before the Zoom meeting and workshop. Students will need access to a laptop computer to receive and utilize their materials.
UrbanPlan teaches students how to work with others and provides presentation experience and learning tools to work in the public, private, and non-profit sectors of Urban Planning. This experience looks great on a resume and applications and helps high school students grasp concepts they typically do not consider. By participating in the program, students will gain experience and growth in their leadership skills and abilities. We hope you will join us this fall!
