Supported by the generosity of a variety of individuals connected to the School of Kinesiology, in an annual basis we offer scholarships to help you pursue your bachelor’s degree or graduate studies. School of Kinesiology Scholarships

To provide funds for scholarship awards to students pursuing one of the major curricula in the School of Kinesiology.

  • Awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing one of the major curricula in the School of Kinesiology.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
  • Good potential as a professional in one of the curricula offered in the school.
  • Need for financial assistance.

To provide funds for scholarship awards to students pursuing one of the major curricula in the School of Kinesiology.

  • Awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing one of the major curricula in the School of Kinesiology;
  • must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater;
  • good potential as a professional in one of the curricula offered in the school;
  • need for financial assistance.  

To recognize outstanding graduate student achievement.

Guidelines for consideration:

  • Scholarship – General point average after completing 24 semester hours.
  • Student essay – Student will be asked to submit a short personal paper (500 words or less) emphasizing an aspect of kinesiology. i.e., contribution of their area of interest to the profession, professionalism in the field of physical education, etc.
  • Three letters of recommendation – 3 professional letters of support.
  • Additional support information: 1) Professional development such as membership in professional organizations, attendance at professional meetings, other publications and presentations, and volunteer services. 2) Research activities such as published research, research papers, dissertation and/or thesis, internal and external research presentations, and grants. 
Teaching Major in Physical Education and Health Scholarships

To provide financial aid to physical education majors.

  • Awarded to full-time undergraduate student majoring in the teaching of physical education at Ball State University;
  • Preference will be given to graduates of Muncie, Indiana high schools. If there are no eligible Muncie high school graduates, then the award may be given to an eligible graduate of any high school in Indiana.
  • must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or more and completed a minimum of 15 semester hours;
  • preference will be given to applicants with financial need

To provide financial aid to physical education majors.

  • Awarded to full-time undergraduate student majoring in the teaching of physical education at Ball State University;
  • Preference will be given to graduates of Muncie, Indiana high schools. If there are no eligible Muncie high school graduates, then the award may be given to an eligible graduate of any high school in Indiana.
  • must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or more and completed a minimum of 15 semester hours;
  • preference will be given to applicants with financial need

The purpose is to provide a scholarship for a full-time female student majoring in the teaching of physical education who demonstrates financial need and high ability. The donor’s intent is to honor his wife’s legacy and profession by providing a scholarship for women in accordance with the stated criteria.

  • incoming female freshmen students pursuing a physical education major;
  • academic index of 3.0 or higher, or transfer students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • minimum SAT score of 1000 on a scale of 1600, or the equivalent on a similar exam such as the ACT; and
  • first preference will be given to a student with demonstrated financial need.
  • The scholarship is renewable for three years thus allowing a total of four years eligibility provided the student continues to met the stated criteria and a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • If a qualified female candidate cannot be identified in a given year, then a one-year, non-renewable scholarship may be awarded to a male student who meets the selection criteria;
  • If there are no qualified incoming freshmen in a given year, then a one-year non-renewable scholarship may be awarded to an upperclassman pursuing a physical education major with first preference being given to a female;
  • Any renewable scholarship commitments made prior to the date of this revised agreement will be honored. NOTE: Because Ball State University is a test-optional institution, SAT/ACT scores are not required for this scholarship.
Freshman Scholarships

To provide scholarships to Ball State University students in accordance with the stated preferences.

  • incoming freshman students pursuing a teaching major in physical education with an academic index of 3.0 or higher, or transfer students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • SAT score of 1000 on a scale of 1600 or the equivalent on a similar exam such as the ACT; and
  • renewable for three years thus allowing a total of four years eligibility provided the student continues to meet the stated criteria and a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • If a qualified candidate cannot be identified, then the Donor prefers an award not be made.
  • In the event the physical education program ceases to exist, the scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is pursuing a major in sport administration or exercise science with a concentration in aquatics and who meets the other criteria. If these programs cease to exist then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student pursuing a teacher education major in any content area. 

NOTE: Because Ball State University is a test-optional institution, SAT/ACT scores are not required for this scholarship.

To recruit an outstanding female freshman or transfer student majoring in physical education.

  • Undergraduate women students majoring in physical education;
  • incoming freshmen and transfer students;
  • must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • renewable for three years thus allowing a total of four years’ eligibility, provided the student continues to meet the stated criteria.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students majoring in Sports Administration.

  • Student majoring in sport administration;
  • Incoming freshman and transfer students. Renewable for three years thus allowing a total of four years eligibility provided the student continues to meet the stated criteria and a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • A high ability student with an academic index of 3.0 for incoming freshman or a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for transfer students;
  • SAT of 1000 (old scale), 1500 (new scale)

NOTE: Because Ball State University is a test-optional institution, SAT/ACT scores are not required for this scholarship.
