Dr. LaToya A. Webb is a native of Richmond, Virginia, and a distinguished conductor, educator, and advocate for music education. She currently serves as Visiting Professor in Music (Bands) at Ball State University, where she leads the wind ensemble and teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting courses. Her academic journey began at Norfolk State University, continued at George Mason University, and culminated with her doctorate from Auburn University.

Dr. Webb launched her career as a band director in Richmond, Virginia Public Schools and at Somerset Prep Academy in Washington, D.C. before going on to hold varied faculty positions across the United States and Canada. She is also a member of the conducting faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

An internationally sought-after conductor and clinician, Dr. Webb maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and lecturer. She continually receives praise for her talent, musicianship, and depth of dedication — particularly her expertise in gestural vocabulary, sensitivity of context and interpretation, clarity of phrasing, and her ability to bring passion and zeal to every performance.

Dr. Webb has led professional development sessions for the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, the New York City Department of Education, and numerous school districts and conferences, including NAfME, TMEA, GMEA, VMEA, FMEA, OMEA (Ontario), the College Music Society National Conference, and the Midwest Clinic. Her scholarship is equally distinguished: she is co-author of GO ON, Tell Your Story! Voices of Women Band Directors and has published research in the Music Educators Journal, The Recorder, and Teaching Music Magazine.

Her excellence has been recognized through numerous prestigious fellowships, including the 2017 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Mike Moss Diversity Conducting Fellowship, the 2018 CBDNA/National Band Association Masterclass Conducting Fellowship, the 2019 U.S. Army Band Conducting Fellowship, and the 2019 Midwest Clinic Reynolds Conducting Institute Fellowship.

A passionate advocate for expanding educational opportunities for all, Dr. Webb is deeply committed to inspiring future leaders and musicians. She currently serves as Tau Beta Sigma National Vice President for Professional Relations, building connections within the college band teaching profession, and sits on the Composer Project Advisory Board for United Sound, Inc. Dr. Webb is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education, the College Band Directors National Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
