Leanne Wood
Assistant Teaching Professor of Music
Leanne Wood holds a Ph.D. in musicology from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. In addition to teaching music history and appreciation courses, she has taught first-year writing seminars and special topics courses exploring music and power, myth and music, and public engagement with the arts. Her scholarship addresses representations and experiences of place in American stage and film musicals (e.g., Oklahoma!, The Music Man, and The Wizard of Oz). She also studies the aesthetics of musical television series like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Schmigadoon!, and musical theming in spaces like Disneyland.
