Robert Dirden
Associate Teaching Professor of Theatre
Hair and Makeup
Robert E Dirden serves as an associate teaching professor, mentor to student designers, and designer for the Department of Theatre and Dance’s production season. He has lived in Muncie for over forty years, and has more than thirty years of experience working as a costume designer and hair and makeup designer for theatre. At Ball State, he has taught Stage Makeup for sixteen years. He is a graduate of Muncie Central High School, and he did both his undergraduate and graduate work at Ball State University. Robert’s Costume and Makeup Designs have been featured in the Ball State productions of
HAIR, Equus, The Full Monty, Shrek, ROE, The Nutcracker, Hairspray, A Christmas Carol, Company, and
A Little Night Music among many others. Between Ball State University and Muncie Civic Theatre, Mr. Dirden has worked as a costume designer, makeup designer, set designer, wig master, producer and director for over 200 productions.
