Ball State University (BSU) welcomes the 2024 Great Lakes Conference, in person for the first time since 2019! The theme of the conference is “Counseling Psychology’s Role in Interdisciplinary Care: Infusing Culture, Empowerment and Prevention.” This theme focuses on Counseling Psychology’s emerging role as part of integrated health care. We particularly welcome conference proposal submissions which inform participants how counseling psychology uses its foundational understanding of culture and social justice to influence our interactions across disciplines. However, proposals on any topic relevant to the field of counseling psychology are encouraged.
About the Conference
The annual Great Lakes Regional Counseling Psychology Conference is the longest running regional counseling psychology conference. Following the recommendation of the third National Counseling Psychology Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in 1987, the conference was hosted annually since its first meeting at The Ohio State University in 1988 until 2019. A small virtual conference was held in 2022. This event has played an important role in the training of counseling psychology students by providing opportunities to deepen professional knowledge, share and disseminate research, and socialize as well as network with professionals and students across the region. BSU’s Counseling Psychology Program first hosted the conference in 1989, and we are proud to host the first in-person Great Lakes Conference since the COVID crisis began. We look forward to seeing you in April!
