Start: April 8, 2025 12 p.m.
End: April 8, 2025 2:30 p.m.
Weather permitting, come view the Sun through two of Ball State’s powerful Solar Telescopes setup off Riverside Ave. out front of the Cooper Science Building. See the Sun in a very specific color of red light known as Hydrogen-alpha and see the atmospheric region of the Sun called the chromosphere. Learn about and see dramatic features like solar prominences, filaments, and flares!
While the Sun will not be eclipsed during this event, we will be celebrating the anniversary of the 2024 total solar eclipse! The telescopes will be the same ones that Ball State faculty and staff used to live stream the eclipse for NASA back in 2024 and free solar viewing glasses will be provided!
- Cost: FREE, cash donations accepted
- Location: Outside of the Cooper Science Building, along Riverside Ave. (North entrance). Paid public parking available at McKinley Avenue Parking Garage and along Riverside Ave.
- Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on April 8, 2025, weather permitting
Telescopes are also setup during Ball State's free public planetarium programs, depending on weather, staffing, and the time of day/year.
