Todd Trappe, PhD, Professor of Exercise Science in the Human Performance Laboratory, and part of the School of Kinesiology and College of Health, will discuss the research that the Human Performance Laboratory has been doing with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) over the last 30 years. He will specifically address the challenges to astronaut health during long-duration space missions and the role of exercise in maintaining astronaut health.

Todd has been with the Human Performance Laboratory as a faculty member since 2004. He received his BS from the University of Iowa, MS from the University of Colorado in conjunction with the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, PhD from Ball State University (with David Costill, PhD), and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in aging and metabolism at Penn State University. Prior to returning to BSU, he was an Associate Professor of Geriatrics, and Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His research interests in astronaut health intersect with his related interest in healthy aging and the influence of exercise.

This event is free and open to the public and a part of the University Libraries’ Virtual Lunch and Learn series.
