SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS (STIs) AND TESTING AT BSU HEALTH CENTER
Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and other vaginal infections is offered at BSU Health Center. Sexually transmitted infections are passed from one person to another through intimate physical or sexual contact via vaginal, oral or anal intercourse. STIs are common but they do not always cause symptoms, so it is possible to have an infection and not know it. STIs can be prevented by not having sex. If you are sexually active, using condoms correctly every time can lower your risk for getting an infection. The more partners a person has in his or her lifetime, the higher the probability of contracting a STI. It is important to get tested if you are sexually active. Many infections can be cured with medications such as antibiotics and others can be treated with medication to reduce symptoms or transmission. Information on the more common STIs is provided through the links below. For additional information please go to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) website at: www.cdc.gov/std.
Cost for testing is subject to change. Therefore, we suggest discussing cost of testing and payment at your appointment.
