Created by Edith Barretto Stevens Parsons (cast in 1937), Frog Baby is a sculpture of a joyous little girl playfully holding a frog in each hand. Legend has it Ball State students facing final exams used to make a pilgrimage to the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University to rub her nose for good luck. When the statue was moved outdoors years ago to stand in the center of a new fountain north of Bracken Library, the tradition took a more protective turn: students now routinely loan Frog Baby a scarf and hat when the weather turns cold.
