A documentary produced by a Ball State professor won a best in category award at the recent national 2007 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Media Festival.
James Shasky, a telecommunications instructor, won "Best in Category — Short Form" for his documentary "Cell Block Scholars." There were 50 short documentaries entered in the faculty division. The award will be given April 20 in Las Vegas during BEA's 52nd annual convention.
Assisting Shasky with the project were Justin Gladis, a telecommunications graduate assistant, and Scott Swim and Laura Huffman, who graduated in 2006 from Ball State.
"James Shasky is among our best faculty when it comes to providing immersive learning experiences to our students," said Nancy Carlson, telecommunications department chair. "We are very lucky to have someone with his skills working on our staff."
BEA is the professional association for professors, industry professionals and graduate students who are interested in teaching and research related to electronic media and multimedia enterprises.
