To help the cosmically challenged, the
Ball State Planetarium and the Muncie Astronomy Club are presenting a series of educational programs for "A Visitor's Guide to the Universe."
The first program of the series will be "Which end do I look in?" at 7:30 p.m. March 2, 3, 9 and 10 in the Ball State Planetarium. Ron Kaitchuck, the planetarium's director, will lead the discussion about telescope components and the pros and cons of various models.
The second program of the series, "Celestial Hot Spots," will feature images of the galaxy captured by Ball State astronomers, members of the Muncie Astronomy Club and major observatories. The program will be 7:30 p.m. April 13, 14, 20 and 21 in the Ball State Planetarium.
Planetarium shows are free and open to the public. No tickets are required, but seating is limited. Doors will open 20 minutes before show time, and no one will be admitted after the program begins.
Children who are 12 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Weather permitting, the observatory will be open after the presentations. The observatory is not heated so patrons should dress accordingly.
The planetarium is off Riverside Avenue in the southeast corner of Cooper Science Complex. Parking is available on the west end of the building and along Riverside Avenue.
