Hasen Fakhruddin
Hasan Fakhruddin, an advanced placement (AP) physics instructor at the
Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities, has been selected as a recipient of the 2006-07 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement.
"This is a tremendous honor and I'm happy for the recognition, but it's the students who help motivate me to teach at this particular level," Fakhruddin said. "They continually challenge me to challenge them."
The award, given annually by the Siemens Foundation and The College Board, recognizes one AP instructor from every state for exemplary teaching and dedication to their students and to the advanced placement program. In addition to receiving a cash prize of $1,000, the names of all of the recipients were also featured in a full-page ad in USA Today on Feb. 26.
For 16 years, Fakhruddin has been teaching AP courses at the academy. He has also been a grader of AP physics exams for The College Board for the past several years and has served on the national test development committee in physics.
