MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State's Teachers College and Apple Inc. will host a Colleges of Education (COE) site visit and tour on March 18-20 to help colleges and universities learn about preparing teachers to work with digital media and computer technology in the 21st century.

Ball State teacher education faculty, students and administrators will share with participants how technology in education is changing teaching practices on a college campus and in P-12 schools. Specific areas of focus will include the implementation of a 1:1 laptop initiative as well as the infusion of technology in the classroom.

Ball State's Teachers College has had a long-term relationship with Apple and has been recognized nationally for its emphasis on the integration of computing and information technology into its curriculum.

"Being asked to showcase to other universities the successful practices we've implemented by incorporating technology into education is not only a huge honor, but it is also a responsibility we take seriously," said Roy Weaver, dean of Teachers College. "Along with sharing our best practices, this site visit also will allow us to hear from other COE leaders about their ideas to help better prepare teachers working in this digital age."

Some of the colleges and universities participating in the site visit include Western Illinois University, University of Indianapolis and Miami University (Ohio).
