Ball State will conclude this year's Arts Alive Concert Series with Antonio Pompa-Baldi at 8 p.m. May 1 at Sursa Performance Hall.
The final performance of the series, which is sponsored by the College of Fine Arts, was rescheduled due to February's blizzard. Tickets purchased for the Feb. 13 concert will be honored.
An accomplished Italian pianist, Pompa-Baldi earned a silver medal at the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He decided to make Cleveland his home after winning the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999.
"The prestige of the Arts Alive series makes this a very attractive engagement, given the caliber of the artists who played on it so far," Pompa-Baldi said.
Pompa-Baldi has toured extensively, performing at major concert venues such as Cleveland's Severance Hall, New York's Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, Paris' Salle Cortot and Theatre des Champs Elysees and Naples' Teatro Diana.
"It's great for our students to hear the very best. Pompa-Baldi is at the top of his game," said Robert Kvam, dean of the College of Fine Arts and professor of music at Ball State.
The performance will start with Italian composer Muzio Clementi's "Sonata in F sharp minor" and will include Schumann Phantasiestucke's "Op. 12," Chopin's "Polonaise-Fantaisie Op. 61" and Brahms' "Variations On A Theme Of Paganini Op. 35."
