Anna Yost, a Ball State University alumna, has left more than $80,000 to contribute to the Wayne L. Yost and Glorvinna E. Yost Scholarship Fund in memory of her brother.
Anna Yost was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Springport, Ind. She was raised in Sulphur Springs, Ind., and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1940. She then received a bachelor's degree from Ball State and a master's degree in home economics from Purdue University. She later studied at Colorado State University and Columbia University in New York City.
She was a professor at the University of Missouri for 30 years, where she taught home economics. Anna Yost died Aug. 17, 2008, in Columbia, Mo.
The scholarship fund will be given to full-time undergraduate students who graduated from high schools in east central Indiana. Additional criteria for awards include extracurricular activities, community and church affairs while in high school, demonstrated self-reliance, initiative and leadership potential.
