Paul and Leslie Strohm have donated $25,000 to create a scholarship fund for architecture students in honor of Paul's parents, Carl and Marjorie Strohm. Carl Strohm received his bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1948 and his master's degree in 1953. Throughout his career, he was an artist, industrial arts teacher and public school administrator. His wife, Marjorie, grew up in Madison, Ind., and was a nurse. 

Paul and Leslie Strohm reside in Chapel Hill, N.C. Paul is a senior vice president at HOK, a global architectural firm specializing in planning, design and delivery solutions. He is a member of HOK's board of directors and is the health care practical leader for the company, which has 1,700 employees worldwide and is internationally recognized for award-winning design and expertise in fields including health care, museums and airports.

Leslie is a graduate of DePauw University and the University of Michigan School of Law.  She currently serves as the vice chancellor and general counsel of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a passionate supporter of the arts, architecture, design and Tar Heel athletics.

The Carl and Marjorie Strohm Scholarship has been created to provide assistance to incoming freshmen or transfer students in the Department of Architecture. Incoming freshmen must have an academic index of 3.0 or higher. Those students must also have a minimum SAT score of 1500 on a scale of 2400 or the equivalent on the ACT. Transfer students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship will be renewable for three years, thus allowing a total of four years' eligibility, provided the student continues to meet the stated criteria.

Availability of the Carl and Marjorie Strohm Scholarship is dependent upon an awards selection process established by Ball State and its academic departments. For more information about this scholarship, contact the architecture department at 765-285-1900.
