A gift of more than $110,000 was donated in honor of Ball State University alumna Helen E. Locke to create the William E. and Helen E. Locke Scholarship Fund.
Helen Locke was born in Windfall, Indiana. After high school, she attended Ball State where she studied nursing and received her degree in 1943. She served as the head nurse at Warner Gear for 30 years prior to her retirement.
Locke was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Ball State University Nurses Alumni, Business Professional Women's Club and State and National Occupation Health Nurses Associations.
The scholarship has been created to provide assistance to students attending Ball State's School of Nursing.
Availability of the William E. and Helen E. Locke Scholarship is dependent upon an award selection process established by Ball State and its academic departments. For specifics about this scholarship, contact the School of Nursing at 765-285-5570.
