Peter and Monica Campanella have donated $50,000 to Ball State University to create the Peter and Monica Campanella Scholarship.
Peter Campanella was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon while at Ball State and received his bachelor of science degree in social studies in 1967. He also received a Program for Management Development (PMD) from Harvard University.
He joined Corning in 1971 as a sales representative in the consumer products division and was named president and chief executive officer (CEO) in 1996. He retired from Corning in 2001. Campanella is active in several nonprofit organizations, serving as a board member and providing pro-bono consulting in the areas of leadership, strategic planning and financial management.
He is a member of the Ball State University Foundation Board of Directors, where he serves as secretary and chairman of the operations committee. He also is a member of the Ball State Bold National Campaign as well as former member of the Above and Beyond Campaign Development Committee and the National Philanthropy Council.
Monica Campanella graduated from Elmira College with a master of science in 1975. She has been a docent with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Campanellas have two adult children, Jennifer and Christopher, and three grandchildren.
The Peter and Monica Campanella Scholarship will benefit students from the northeast region of the United States.
