Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels has named Michael T. Miller, an architecture and political science major from Elkhart, Ind., to a two-year term as the new student representative on the Board of Trustees at Ball State University.
Active on campus, Miller is Campus Council chairman and a member of College Republicans, Freedom By Design and the American Institute of Architecture Students.
"I am grateful for the opportunity Ball State University has provided me to excel academically throughout my own college experience," said Miller, who succeeds 2011 graduate Nicole Vauter as one of the nine voting members on the board.
"The knowledge and opportunities gained have helped to define my persona and equated to a wealth of interests and talents. As the student trustee, I look forward to preserving these abilities that have been bestowed upon me while forging the visions of our current and future generations of students. I am humbled to be given this chance to serve on behalf of the students and faculty of Ball State University, and I will perform this role to the highest standards and to the best of my ability."
Miller's appointment was among a dozen announced by Daniels to fill various board vacancies at six Indiana public universities including Indiana University, Purdue, Indiana State, the University of Southern Indiana and Vincennes University.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Ball State Board of Trustees is Sept. 16.
