In honor of Miller College of Business professor William Moser, Ball State alumnus Robert Shipley has dedicated $50,000 to create a scholarship recognizing Moser's contribution to Ball State University.
Moser began teaching at Ball State in 1968 and is a past recipient of the professor of the year award from the College of Business and Department of Marketing. As a student mentor throughout his career, he assisted two students, Bob Shipley and Judy Tipton, as they began operation of the Ball State Better Business Bureau.
Shipley graduated from Ball State in 1975 with his bachelor's degree in marketing and received a master of business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1990. Now, he is president and CEO of Hartz Mountain Corp., the leading U.S. pet products and supplies company.
The William Moser and Ball State University Better Business Bureau Scholarship will be made available to Ball State juniors or seniors who are Indiana residents and pursuing a major within the Miller College of Business. First preference will be given to students who have demonstrated community service on Ball State's campus. If no students meet this preference, the scholarship will be given to students who have participated in Miller College of Business student organizations.
