Ball State's dance majors will explore how color can generate and express movement and shapes through "The Color of Motion," coming to the University Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5-7, with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

Audiences of all ages will enjoy a lavish combination of dance and a splash of color as part of Ball State University's dance concert, "The Color of Motion." The production comes to the University Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5-7, with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

"We always try to choose a show that allows each of the choreographers to have freedom in their creative process, while keeping a common thread between each dance," said Audra Sokol, director of Ball State's dance program and associate professor of dance. "This year, we used color to create cohesive order for the overall show."

The dancers will create an intimate and powerful experience by exploring the metaphoric relationship between dance and color. "Each choreographer has different tastes in music, so one can expect to see a variety of dance styles, including ballet, modern, and contemporary dance," Sokol said, adding that students have been rehearsing for the show since the beginning of the semester.

Tickets for "The Color of Motion" cost $14 for the general public, $13 for faculty and staff, $10 for senior citizens and $8 for students. They are available from the University Theatre Box Office, open from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact the box office at 765-285-8749 or visit www.bsu.edu/theatre for more information.
