College Choice, an independent online research source for families, on Thursday named Ball State’s online learning program one of the top 50 in the country. Ball State is the only public institution in Indiana featured on the list.
“We are pleased to see Ball State represented among this distinguished class of universities offering diverse online programs, tailored to meet the needs of our adult learners and workforce development,” says Jennifer Bott, associate provost for learning initiatives. “It is gratifying to see that the dedication of our progressive faculty and institutional support behind quality online learning experiences is being recognized.”
That forward thinking benefits students who, like recent graduate Monica Spahr, have scheduling challenges that can make a traditional classroom routine difficult.
“I had one year when my community service hours were due while I was on active duty at my Army hospital. But my instructor was flexible and allowed me to complete my clinical time during my non-duty hours,” says Spahr, ’11, who completed the registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing (RN to BS) program.
According to College Choice, the group uses data collected from the National Center for Educational Statistics, from university websites, and from publications such as U.S. News and World Report, Forbes and Washington Monthly.
