The Ball State University Board of Trustees today appointed Terry S. King, provost and vice president for academic affairs, to serve as interim president, effective Jul. 1 to Aug. 1. King’s appointment will bridge the transition between the presidencies of Jo Ann M. Gora, who will retire on June 30, and Paul W. Ferguson, who will begin on Aug 1.
“This is a very important time in the life of the university,” said Rick Hall, chair of the Board of Trustees. “A smooth and seamless transition between presidents will help us maintain our momentum. My fellow board members and I appreciate Terry’s willingness to serve and lead in this capacity.”
“I’m honored to serve the university and help ensure a smooth transition for President Ferguson,” said King. “The university has made great strides over several years. I’m sure that Dr. Ferguson will build on those successes, and we will raise the bar higher still. I’m pleased to assist in this transition in any way I can.”
The Board of Trustees named Ferguson the university’s 15th president on May 22. Ferguson’s appointment was unanimously approved at a special board meeting and press conference on campus in Sursa Hall.
