Audiences of all ages will enjoy a variety of iconic dance performances from the past as well as innovative work from the present as part of Ball State University’s “Best of Ball State Dance Theatre: Past and Present.” The production comes to the University Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10-12, with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 13.
“Our goals are always to highlight the strengths and unique talents of the dance majors while also seeking personal artistic fulfillment,” said Audra Sokol, director of Ball State's dance program and associate professor of dance.
Works in the production have been performed in venues across the nation, Sokol said. For example, the piece titled “…and she was perfect.” was featured at the National College Dance Festival in New York City in 2008.
Choreographers have incorporated an array of styles in the pieces, including jazz, modern, tap and ballet.
