A spring tradition continues at the David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) with Art in Bloom, a ticketed gala fundraiser, from 5-8 p.m. May 18, with a free, public floral exhibition to follow from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on May 19-20.
Presented by Sursa Griner Wealth Management of Raymond James in Muncie, Art in Bloom celebrates DOMA through innovative floral interpretations created by the region’s top floral designers, who hail from Muncie, Yorktown, Fort Wayne, Fishers, and Indianapolis. These floral artists will unveil their creations inspired by significant works of art during the gala. Tickets are $50 per person and include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live music.
Robert La France, the museum’s director said, “Friday’s gala fundraiser and free weekend exhibition are wonderful events to celebrate spring, meet new people, and visit with friends.” He noted the events and museum are “big-city perks that anyone can enjoy in America’s Middletown.”
Proceeds from the event support the Friends of the David Owsley Museum of Art and the Ball State University Foundation in their mission to fund the museum’s acquisitions, exhibitions, and programs.
Guests attending the May 18 gala will be able to meet the floral artists and view their fresh interpretations of six of the museum’s favorite works of art. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Mark Buselli Trio. Guest judges will award gold and silver prizes. During the opening event and throughout the weekend, visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite arrangements to win the People’s Choice Award.

The May 19-20 exhibition of the floral arrangements will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. both days, with docent-led tours at 2:30 p.m.
