To achieve their potential to transform society, Universities of the Future must collaborate far beyond the degree to which higher education has previously collaborated. This includes collaboration with key groups. Universities of the Future will include, among other types of collaboration, intense local-global collaborative partnerships, industry-university collaborative partnerships, and CBO-university collaborative partnerships.

Whole-systems Interdisciplinary Collaborative Partnerships: Solutions that provision the Sustainability Economy cannot be envisioned through the bounded thinking of any one discipline or narrow range of disciplines. The whole-systems collaborative partnership model informs decisions through the collective consciousness that emerges from dialogue among diverse disciplines using innovation-intervention techniques that protect the collective from the bounded thinking of any one discipline.

Local-global Collaborative Partnerships: Partner local and global knowledge to empower local communities to realize their hopes, dreams, and aspiration in way that build a sustainable future. These partnerships integrate local expertise (government, industry, faith-based organizations, not-for-profit entities, and higher-education institution) and global expertise (global network of sustainability entities) to help build the sustainability economy.

Industry-University Collaborative Partnerships: Partner with industry to help companies green their production and facilities, to add value to waste, and to take advantage of the economy potential of the sustainability economy.
CBO-university UF Collaborative Partnership: The CBO-University UF Partnership integrates the sustainability innovation of an ecobalance planning and design non-profit (CMPBS) with an international network of university-based sustainability initiatives (at BSU, PUCRS, FUB) to empower humanity to become integral components of balanced resource flows; thereby allowing the Earth to heal itself and return to healthy resource flows; and for humankind to become healthy and to prosper in a sustainability economy.
