Beth and her students researched the civil rights history of East Central Indiana, and then designed, fabricated and installed exhibit prototypes into a retired city bus, transforming it into a mobile civil rights museum -- the Freedom Bus.
Designed as an educational outreach tool for visiting schools, community centers, historical societies, fairs, festivals and other events, the exhibits aim to educate communities about the challenges and triumphs experienced on the local front of the national civil rights movement by recounting and celebrating the stories of East Central Indiana citizens.
The project’s community partners included The City of Muncie, the Muncie Human Rights Commission, Muncie Indiana Transit System and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Team.
