Tung Liu, professor of economics, received his doctorate from the University of California at San Diego in 1990 and joined Ball State in the same year. His fields of interests include time series, applied econometrics, applied finance, and China economy. Liu's current research includes neural networks, returns to education, and China economy. His research publications appear in Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Economic History, Journal of Future Markets, Physica D, Economic Modelling, Empirical Economics, and China Economic Review. Liu teaches courses in economics, statistics, and econometrics. He received the Dean's Teaching award in 1999 and 2000. He was a recipient of "Educator of the Year" in 1994 presented by Delta Sigma Pi fraternity.
