A Sport Event and Facility Management minor allows students to enhance their knowledge of hosting events within the necessary facilities, venues, and spaces to accommodate activities. Students will be able to gain an understanding of how international, professional, collegiate, interscholastic, non-profit entities (such as Indy Sports Corp.), travel sport organizations, etc., can understand, strategize, and execute necessary business decisions for successful outcomes.

Students will take prescribed courses providing fundamental knowledge within multiple functional disciplines needed to operate and perform events within the confines of defined spaces.

This minor works well with any individual who has an interest in sport, as well as majors in:

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop foundational knowledge on what to consider when hosting events
  2. Develop an understanding of what must be considered when considering facility/venue space
  3. Develop awareness of what attracts vendors and outside entities to a particular location
  4. Develop awareness of regulations and policies to avoid legal ramifications

Program Requirements

Admission requirements include:

  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA in minor courses
  • Completion of SPTA 190 – Introduction to Sport Administration with a C- or better
