Our Japanese Teaching Major equips students with the linguistic expertise and pedagogical foundation to teach Japanese in grades 6–12.
Students will study Japanese conversation, writing systems, grammar, and culture alongside professional education coursework. This blend prepares students for Indiana teaching licensure and gives them tools to engage diverse classrooms with creativity and cultural sensitivity. In addition to the required courses, students seeking a license to teach in the modern world languages need to complete a study program where the target language is spoken.
What You Will Learn
As a Japanese teaching major, you’ll gain:
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Japanese
